I think you have a point here. An alternative is not to stick so closely
to the expected d'n'b parameters and to wander freely into other musical
territory -- a range larger than from "jazz-inflected d'n'b" to "hard
techstep". Embrace everything. Or does variety only spoil the appeal?
(I got some sense of that in reactions to Photek's album.)
