That album was among the first IDM records I'd ever bought, and it still
gets played from time to time. It's good driving music. :) As to how it has
dated, well, its age will definitely show, but it shouldn't affect your
enjoyment of the music. It's what I'd consider a "chill-out" album, though
it does have steady beats pretty much throughout. "The Beyond Within" is a
particularly enjoyable track; it gets the album rolling after the relatively
downtempo first cut, "zenn la."
And, no, I'm not a music critic, and I don't really know what I'm talking
about. Just trust me, it's definitely worth the eight bucks. I paid full
price for it and would do so again were it not still a cherished member of
my collection.
Enjoy!
