COLDCUT release a remix album (JAN 25), Let Us Replay. I think there
are alot of neat Cd-rom stuff on this one as well. Carl Craig and
others contribute remixes.

DJ KRUST is working on an album for Talkin' Loud. Expected release in
April, with a single in March.

ORBITAL'S first single from the forthcoming album should be titled
'Style' and will appear in February.

STACEY PULLEN is starting work on his first album for Virgin's
off-shoot label Science.

FUNK D'VOID is finishing off a CHASER album (his jazzier guise) for
Soma called Sleazy Listening, before recording a new F.D.V. in February.

NIGHTMARES ON WAX - Car Boot Soul is the long awaited follow up to
Smoker's Delight, due on Warp in February.

STEREOLAB have begun work on their tenth album for release in summer
of 99.

808 STATE - Newbuild, 808 State's much sought after Acid Lp is getting
reissued by Rephlex in January.

ANDREA PARKER has a new single 'The Unknown'.

In the TOP 50 MAIN PLAYERS of 1998, OPTICAL is ranked at #3

OPTICAL. Drum'n'bass's premier noise-pervert co-piloted albums for
Grooverider, Jonny L, and Goldie. Then there, was the ace VIRUS label
with fellow noisnik Ed Rush. The number one dominator.
"I love Groove's LP. I was a bit surprised by some of the responses,
but I think it's quite a challenging album. The Virus album me and Ed
Rush did was a lot of after-hours, it was fun.
Ed and me, we've had our ups and down because there's alot of
stress. We could have thrown each other out of a train window or
something, but were still here.
Overall, I wish more people would do songs. It'd be a shame to look
back and just have bleep bleep. Drum n bass clubs have gotten a lot
better during the second half of this year. Speed Garage came out and
everyone was cussing drum n bass, but it's good because it's taken
some of the darker element out. There's a bit more of a party element
now. We try and make it fun. That's what Virus is about. We get pissed
and have fun and hope everything else follows"
TIP FOR '99
"DJ DIE - he's the one. Albums from KRUST and MATRIX. ANDY C"

News: JEFF MILLS has refused to touch UK soil again after continual
harassment by customs. He'd just bought a house in Kensington too.
Still, Mills-ettes can appreciate him sonically as he is preparing a
new album that should move on from minimalism and loops and
(hopefully) bring techno into the millenium in a new style.
