Go to www.missionrec.com -- they not only sell all the stuff you're
likely to need at decent prices, it's the home of the PCDAW and MACDAW
mailing lists. DAW meaning Digital Audio Workstation.

Creative Labs are famous for cutting major corners on DtoA and AtoD convertors,
analogue circuitry, etc. So I wouldn't use such a thing -- I think
they're crap. But you might think it's good enough -- you won't know
until you try.

Ensoniq Audio PCI cards are cheap (< $50) and have halfway decent
convertors. I use a Turtle Beach Pinnacle (about $400) but I don't think
you need that kind of firepower for this application. Pinnacle analogue
recordings sound great, very low noise.

And if you're really finicky you'll get a card with a digital input
and an outboard AtoD/DtoA convertor. But that could run you upwards of
$800.
