I saw a copy of a 2xlp set from DC records called Beat Classic. It is a
collection of rare proto hiphop from the early and mid 80's. As the
cover's biline ('Fuck Trip Hop') suggests, the tracks are abstract, spacy,
groovey, and downright weird. Oh, and they predate the triphop movement by
12 years. Has anyone else heard or seen this? It's an interesting
collection.
