really? wow. props to the canadians.
i feel the wells/newman powerhouse to be one of the most underrated in the
history electronic music. necessary recordings:
greater than one :
_all the masters licked me_ (1987; side effects records (deleted,
sorry))
_duty and trust_ (1991; ROIR)
tricky disco : whatever you can find: it's all real old and deleted.
GTO :
_tip of the iceberg_ (1993; react)
_data-trax volume 1_ & _...volume 2_ (1994/1995; react)
_kardiophunk and the seventh wave_ (1996; react)
technohead : whatever you can find; they're all deleted.
john + julie : _red alert_ (1993; dataflow; deleted)
TD5 : whatever you can find; they're all deleted.
also, not newman/wells, but there's signs ov chaos. it's what michael
wells did after lee newman passed on. my picks:
_frankenscience (urban cyberphunk)_ (1996; earache)
_scanner v signs ov chaos_ (1997; earache) is pretty good, too. half is
scanner remixed by signs ov chaos; the other half the other way around.
so if you're unsure about buying it, look at it this way: it's half
scanner, too (another artist really worth your time and effort).
now, i'm sure we'll get some people saying that the newman/wells in the
'90's got really silly on the techno tip. well, i say, so? it's well done
and damned fun. i'm willing to admit i like some crap raver techno of the
early '90's. maybe it's the memories; i don't know. but these two were
really good. buy what you can: practiucally all has been deleted.
