That Fingernail release does look like it's going to be a good one. Regarding the new Bochum Welt mini-album, I got a copy of it last week and have been giving it some careful attention. Gone are the squelchy electro-percussive sounds of past Bochum Welt releases in favor of a quieter, deeper, warmer, often retro synth poppier sound. It has seven tracks in all that range from a italo-vocal new-order-sounding opening track (Alte Forme) to a groovy percussive DNA-sounding cut (Interlue) to a liberache-esque concert piano piece (Clair De Lune), to several moody atmospheric synth tracks (Web Theme & Blue Atmosphere 2). Even the cover artwork has a very quirky retro look which, in combination with the various styles on this mini-album, makes me wonder if this album is supposed to have a bit of a "tongue & cheek" appeal to it much in the same way that Jimi Tenor's releases do. Regardless, it will definitely suprise a lot of people and may offend those who were expecting the old Bochum Welt style. But all in all, i enjoy this new twist on the Bochum Welt sound. It fits in very well with the new "grey area" where electronics, pop, lounge & post rock are all melding together. -->-Lance--- xxxxxxx@xxxx.xxx xxxxx@xxxxxxxxx.xxx p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states
